Bunker H4 K-W Line
The KW line, an abbreviation for the full title of Koningshooikt - Wavre line, was the main Belgian defense line against a possible German armored invasion through central Belgium, during the initial phase of the World War II .
The KW line, also known as the Dyle line or Iron Wall , was commissioned by the Belgian Ministry of Defense and built between September 1939 and May 1940. It consisted of a connection of bunkers and barricades between the village of Koningshooikt and the town of Wavre . The barricades were either Cointet elements connected by steel cables, or railway tracks drilled partly into marshy areas, concrete ditches filled with water or other steel constructions likely to withstand armored vehicle attacks.
