André Perrin, a peacekeeper, was killed by
SS soldiers in front of the Hôtel-Dieu in Paris on
August 19, 1944, during the
Paris Uprising. André Perrin was part of a group of resistance fighters and police officers attempting to take control of the Hôtel-Dieu, which was occupied by German forces. During the confrontation, André Perrin was hit by enemy fire and seriously wounded. He was taken to hospital, but died of his wounds shortly afterwards.
André Perrin is considered one of the martyrs of the
liberation of Paris and is commemorated on the monument to the dead of the national police force in Paris..
