Here on February 3, 1944 the Jouet des Flots ran aground on a stormy night with 32 passengers on board, made up of avitators and resistance fighters including

Pierre Brossolette editor-in-chief of the underground newspaper Résistance and member of the réseau Dahlia arrested and tortured by the Gestapo he committed suicide on March 22, 1944 by throwing himself out of the window of the quartier général du SD à Paris.
☨ Cdt. Edmond Jouhaud Appointed Commander of the FFIof the southern Gironde in August 1944.
☨ Lieutenant de Vaisseaux Yves le Hénaff. Taken prisoner on February 5 by the Gestapo at Audierne incarcerated and tortured in Rennes he died in the wagon deporting him to the Dachau camp in July 1944.
☨ Prefect Emile Bollaert delegate general of the French Committee for National Liberation. Arrested and tortured, he was deported to Buchenwaldin August 1944, then transferred to the Bergen-Belsen camp, and was finally liberated by British troops on April 15, 1945.
