Among the massacresand exactions committed by the German army in France during the World War II were the executions of 20 Resistance fighters shot here by the Germans on July 30, 1944 a week before Moëlan-sur-Mer was liberated:Louis Laurent and Louis Le Guennec, both from Moélan; Alexis Cadoret, François Le Tollec, Yves Lelias, Louis Jaffré, César Houshoorn, Pierre Peyre, all from Quimperlé ;
Théophile Kerlir, from Lorient; Lucien Hascoët, Pierre Le Roux, Louis Bourhis,  from Concarneau ; Jean and François Noach, Adolphe Furic, René Colin, Arsène Coadou, René Laureau, from Nevez .
Louis Torquat de la Coulerie and an unidentified British serviceman.
To this list must be added André de Neuville killed by a burst of machine-gun fire near his château de Rosgrand in Rédéné on July 28, 1944, as he sought to recover radio equipment from his château, which had been occupied for two days by the Germans
