Lanildut Cemetery

The communal cemetery of Lanildut is home to two Commonwealth Commonwealth graves, one of an unknown soldier (Great War sailor) and the other of:
Lieutenant Andrew Jervis HAWKINS co-pilot of the Handley Page H.P.54 Harrow of the 271 Squadron of the Royal Air Force which crashed into the sea  on December 19, 1942 for unknown reasons.
His 10 comrades-in-arms present in the plane also died, only four of the 11 bodies would be recovered.
