On July 4, 1944, the battalion took part in Operation Windsor, a Canadian offensive during the Battle of Caen. From then until July 8, it occupied a salient and was heavily bombarded, until the enemy was repulsed by a bomber assault and Caen was captured. During the period from July 3 to 9, the battalion lost two officers and 17 soldiers in action. In the days that followed, the battalion carried out patrols until relieved by Les Fusiliers du Mont-Royal on July 12. On July 18, the QOR of C battalion took part in Operation Atlantic, the Canadian offensive as part of Operation Goodwood, with the mission of capturing the village of Giberville. The village was captured, but the battalion had three officers and 13 soldiers killed in action. Some 200 enemy dead were found in the area, and 600 prisoners were captured. The battalion occupied the village until July 21, when it was transferred to Grentheville.
