Port Filiolet stele

Here in the hamlet of Port Filiolet (a strategic location), violent fighting took place on June 8 and 9, 1944.
Civilians were forced to leave the village.
2 houses were burnt down.
On the night of June 8-9, 25 volunteer paratroopers launched an assault, forcing the Germans to retreat, leaving many casualties in their wake.
The village was liberated on the morning of June 10.
