Airfield built by the 850th and 877th Airfield Engineering Battalions and operational from August 23 to September 24, 1944. A stele at the entrance to the airfield pays tribute to the 323rd Bombardment Group of the USAF. A plaque also pays tribute to the feat of illustrious aviator Charles Lindbergh, nicknamed "The Lone Eagle", in flying non-stop and solo from New York to Paris between May 20 and 21, 1927 in 33 hours and 30 minutes, aboard his Spirit of Saint Louis aircraft.
