Memorial in tribute to the 18 Resistance fighters, including 9 from the maquis de Scaër, and 9 from the maquis de Rosporden, who died during the violent fighting that took place here between July 14 and 15, 1944.
On July 8, 1944, the BBC announces to local resistance fighters "Paul a sang-froid", this coded message warns of a parachute drop the following night that will drop 16 tons of weapons and equipment as well as three SOE
- The Sergeant Neuville Wood, Radio
- The Captain Paul Carron
- The Captain Christopher George Wynter Blathwayt
These 3 experienced SOE member soldiers are parachuted in to train, structure the resistance in order to slow the German advance towards Normandy.
The radio of Sergeant Neuville Wood not working a second parachute drop is scheduled for July 14 at the same location.
The information is known to the Germans and the site is surrounded from 5am on July 15, violent fighting will last all day that will cost the lives of:
