On the slopes of Aubusson perished a dozen British, from the 4e KSLI, from the 3e RTR and the 151e Ayrshire Yeomanry: captains RC Walford, PSY Garrett, DH Bennett, lieutenant ES Kershaw, sergeant JW Jameson, privates GW Badlan, AE Cole, PJ Foulkes, H Kenworthy, ET Mason, TR Walker. A little further south, at La Guermondière, Sergeant FW Titcombe and Corporal EH Smith were mortally wounded in their scout-car. German losses between the Moulin d'Aubusson and Clos de la Mare, between the Pont de Vère and Hamel du Bois, and between the village and Guermondière, were also high. Caught up in the turmoil of battle, civilians were killed or seriously wounded. Flériennes Henriette and Yvette Trempu, and Aubussonnaise Alice Mesrouze did not survive. During the night, Léon Betton, from Caligny, and Jeanne Devolder, from Montilly-sur-Noireau, were killed at La Masure by a shell.

The battle of Aubusson was thus the bloodiest in the Flers region. (source Wikipedia)
